Canada’s tariffs support response

The Government of Canada is providing a new $7.5 billion package to support Canadian workers and businesses affected by U.S. tariffs, building on nearly $25 billion in existing measures. The package includes $1.5 billion for the Regional Tariff Response Initiative to help small and medium-sized businesses, a new $500 million liquidity stream through the Business Development Bank of Canada and expanded access to tariff-related programs by lowering the minimum revenue requirement to $1 million.

It also provides $2 billion through the Canada Strong Diversification Fund for tariff-affected businesses and $3.5 billion in Rapid Response Supports to help workers through enhanced EI flexibilities, workplace training, improved Job Bank services, and the new Worker Retention and Retraining Program.

In addition, new flexibilities will be introduced for the Large Enterprise Tariff Loan facility to provide further support to major businesses facing tariff-related pressures.
