The most common question we hear working at the Chamber of Commerce is “What is the Chamber of Commerce and what does it do?” Well, here are the answers to those questions.
The Chamber of Commerce is the Voice of Business, dedicated to a prosperous community. This means we are here to work with you and for you to help your business succeed. We want you to succeed, which is why the Chamber offers a large numbers of opportunities and benefits. The Chamber is a not-for-profit organization and generates its revenue through event/programs and membership fees. The Chamber is not funded by any level of government.
The chamber is made up of three parts – a team of dedicated staff who work hard to ensure members are receiving all the benefit they can from the Chamber, a Board of Directors made up of business leaders from the community who provide direction to Chamber on what initiatives and events we will take on and how the Chamber can improve the member experience, and of course you – the Chamber members. It is the Chamber members and the staff and director’s desire to provide for our members that make the Chamber of Commerce what it is – an organization dedicated to listening to and voicing the concerns of our members at all levels of government, and who strive to provide service and benefits for our members that make working and living in Cambridge an enjoyable and worthwhile experience.
The chamber’s most fundamental mission is to generate more business activity for the community. The chamber initiates more business-to-business commerce and more opportunities for networking and connecting local professionals than is available through most other local organizations.
